Rongsheng Company Helps AoTan-1 Well Set a New Asian Record

According to a June 11 report by China Petroleum Daily, AoTan-1, which set a new Asian record for the deepest true vertical depth of a highly deviated well in a carbonate reservoir, was successfully drilled to completion. The well used Rongsheng Company's independently developed 13 5/8"-15000psi and 11"-20,000psi BOP stacks. After more than eight months of field operation, the equipment withstood various complex formations and extreme conditions, effectively safeguarded drilling safety, and successfully supported Daqing Oilfield in setting the Asian record for a highly deviated well with a true vertical depth of 9,416.6 meters.
AoTan-1 is located in the Manxi slope break belt of the Tarim Basin. It is a key ultra-deep risk exploration well deployed by PetroChina in the Tadong exploration area of Daqing Oilfield. Drilling began on October 15, 2023. From top to bottom, the well penetrated nine stratigraphic systems, including the Quaternary, Tertiary, Cretaceous, and Triassic formations. The geological conditions were highly complex, and the engineering and operational requirements were extremely demanding. In order to safely drill this carbonate-reservoir highly deviated well with the greatest true vertical depth in Asia, the operator targeted both geological and engineering challenges, simulated in advance the complex downhole conditions that might be encountered, and, based on actual drilling needs and geological response data, deployed Rongsheng Company's 21 1/4"-10,000psi, 13 5/8"-15,000psi, and 11"-20000psi BOP stacks to address different ultra-high-temperature, ultra-high-pressure, and ultra-deep conditions. These BOP stacks all played critical roles during drilling, withstood multiple kick events, demonstrated outstanding reliability, and won unanimous praise from the end user.
In recent years, Rongsheng Company's independently developed high-end BOPs have achieved continuous success in field applications. Especially in geologically complex regions such as Southwest and Northwes's "Shendi No. 1", the deepest well in Asia. These achievements have made an important contribution to advancing China's oil and gas equipment industry and supporting the implementation of major national strategies.
