Rongsheng Company's Independently Developed 205°C High-Temperature Ram BOP Packing Element Fills a Domestic Gap

On August 31, when Rongsheng Company once again carried out API 16A PR2 EFF validation testing on the ultra-high-pressure ram BOP packing element it had successfully developed three years earlier, this packing element product—after repeated improvement and multiple rounds of optimization—not only successfully passed the international industry-standard temperature validation from -1°C to 177°C, but also set a new domestic record for the highest temperature resistance of a ram BOP packing element by maintaining good performance across all indicators even at 205°C, exceeding the standard limit.
In recent years, with the continuous intensification of onshore and offshore oil and shale gas drilling and production, there have been more and more deep and ultra-deep wells in oil and gas extraction, and market demand has correspondingly increased for "three-high" BOP packing elements featuring high-temperature resistance, high-pressure resistance, and hydrogen sulfide resistance. To meet the technical requirements for rubber materials under various operating conditions, Rongsheng Company, relying on its own scientific research and technical strength, carried out in-depth research and dedicated technical work on issues such as the increased flowability of rubber under high temperature and high pressure, and the tendency of rubber to be lost during extrusion, leading to sealing failure. After extensive screening of formulation materials and nearly one hundred validation tests, the company successfully developed a rubber compound that broke the domestic high-temperature record. At the same time, by using finite element analysis and other technical methods for precise calculation, it designed a rational mold structure for the packing element and adopted unique rubber vulcanization and internal mixing processes, effectively solving problems such as rubber loss under high temperature and high pressure. The product fully meets the requirements of high-temperature, high-pressure, and high-corrosion operating conditions, breaks foreign technological monopolies, and equips ultra-high-pressure ram BOPs used in China's domestic "three-high" oil and gas production blocks with a true "Chinese core."
At present, Rongsheng Company has developed more than 40 types of ram BOP rubber sealing elements with different temperature ratings, capable of meeting the needs of harsh and complex operating conditions such as high pressure, high temperature, and hydrogen sulfide in onshore deep wells and offshore drilling. This has strongly advanced the localization process of high-level ram BOP packing elements in China.
